Maura English Silverman, MS, CCC/SLP, is the founder and Executive Director of the Triangle Aphasia Project, located in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina. Maura began her career in speech-language pathology in the acute care and rehabilitative settings. In her 20 years of experience in treating neurogenic communication disorders, Maura has had opportunities to work in model rehabilitation programs, medical centers and University Programs, including North Shore University Hospital, Cornell Medical Center, Shepherd Center, and Duke University Medical Center. She has developed and taught courses at Hofstra University and currently collaborates with university programs in North Carolina, providing graduate student training in the area of Aphasia management. Maura credits her functional and individualized training philosophy to the work of the LPAA Project Group and the committed patients and families who refuse to give up on Aphasia recovery and optimal quality of life.
