what to do while waiting for neuro testing
Posted at: 2022-02-09 18:55:17
I am a 35 yo female, no history of head injuries, migraines, epilepsy, or CVA, started having word finding probs (tip of tongue) 6 months ago, then began saying the wrong word out loud (e.g. I’m hot) even though saying the correct word in my head (e.g. I’m cold), then becoming more vague in speech (the thing on the table, that thing next to the shoes), and now recently started to slur speech occasionally.
It has come on gradually, increasing in scope and frequency. No headaches, tremors, weakness, or other memory probs that I am aware of.
PCP scheduled neuropsych testing - 2 months from now, but I am concerned about waiting that long. Is there anything I can do in the meantime? Are there causes of aphasia other than injuries and CVAs in younger adults? It seems the dementias would be rare at my age and I can’t imagine what else might be going on that would cause such specific symtpoms?
