expressive aphasia

A friend had a head injury from a fall two years ago and has had some aphasia which the doctors told her would get better. It has not, and seems to be getting worse. She has one very interesting problem: she confuses he/she often using them interchangebly in the same sentence making her sentences difficult to understand. She will start by saying “she” when referring to a woman in a story she is telling and then switch to “he/him”. She has not had speech therapy since the head injury. Think it’s too late?
